The open-source governed data layer for your SQL database.
Give every app and AI agent safe access to your business data. data05 knows what the data means, who owns it and who may change it, and applies the same rules to every person, service and AI agent that reads or writes it, on the database you already run.
Not released yet. data05's library and command line tool will be free and open source under Apache-2.0; its optional server will be source-available under BSL 1.1, becoming Apache-2.0 over time. No account and no telemetry.

What it is being built to do
Your database stores the data. It does not know that a column is the invoice total, that Finance owns it, that changing it needs a reason, or that an AI agent may read it but never change it. data05 does.
Business objects on real tables
Objects, links, owners and rules written once, in an open format. They become ordinary typed tables with real keys, usable in plain SQL if you ever leave.
Deterministic, never a model
Every schema change is planned and classified before it runs; every permission is decided by code you can test, and explained.
Your database, your directory
PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite and SQL Server from the start, any other SQL database through one interface, and the identity provider you already run.
One governed path
People, services, workflows, API keys and AI agents take the same path: access, row scopes, masking, reasons and approvals, and an audit of every write.
Safe for AI agents
An MCP server generated from your schema. An agent works with exactly a person's access; deletions and critical changes wait for a person.
Clear about strength
data05 governs what passes through it, and says where each database backs it up and where a raw connection could still get around it.
Questions
What is data05?
An open-source layer between your apps, your AI agents and your SQL database. You describe your business objects, their links, owners and rules once; data05 creates real typed tables in your database and applies the same access, masking, approval and audit rules to every read and write, whoever or whatever makes it.
Which databases will it support?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite and SQL Server from the first release. Any other SQL database, such as MariaDB, Oracle, Db2 or CockroachDB, is added through one interface that declares what the database can do; data05 plans around what is missing or refuses it with a plain reason.
Does data05 use AI?
No. Nothing in data05 calls a model; every plan and permission is decided by deterministic code. It makes AI agents' access to data safe: an agent acts for a named person with that person's access, and risky changes wait for a person.
When is it available?
When the open-source repository and the first binaries are published. Until then, this page is all there is; nothing here claims a feature that has not shipped.
How does it relate to use05?
Both are in the 05 family. use05 governs AI agents that change your code; data05 governs AI agents that touch your data. Same shape, five parts each, and the same discipline: deterministic controls, and honest about how strong each one is.
From the 05 family
use05, the first 05 product, is released and open source: an acceptance layer for AI-written code. data05 does the same job for business data, and follows when its repository and binaries are published.
